North Atlantic Industries Announces Single Slot, 3U cPCI Quad QorIQ P2041 SBC Solution Maximizing MIL-STD-1553B & ARINC 429/575 for Avionic Applications

BOHEMIA, NY – March 16, 2016 -- North Atlantic Industries, Inc. (NAI) announces the availability of a Quad Core Power PC, 3U cPCI COTS Single Board Computer (SBC) solution targeted at military and avionics platforms that require high density communications and performance in SWaP-constrained environments.

The 75PPC1-FT3-AR1 is powered by NXP’s 1.2 GHz Quad QorIQ P2041 PowerPC processor, and is configured with quad channel, dual redundant, MIL-STD-1553B, and 12-channel ARINC 429/575 Tx/Rx communications bus ports. This 3U cPCI rugged SBC leverages NAI’s modular COTS products built on an open systems architecture (COSA®) allowing technology insertion, and conforms to all open standards.

Configuration includes:

  • MIL-STD-153B - (FT3) quad-channel, dual redundant, balanced-line physical layer; a (differential) network interface; time division multiplexing; half-duplex command/response protocol, and up to 31 remote terminals per channel designed for use with rugged and commercial avionics applications.
  • ARINC 429/575 – (AR1) up to twelve programmable Rx/Tx channels. Provides essential air-data information for displays, autopilots, and other flight controls and instrumentation on commercial and military aircraft.

“The 75PPC1-FT3-AR1 tests the boundaries of high performance computation in small form factor, rugged defense products while maximizing MIL-STD-1553B and ARINC 429/575 communications in a single 3U slot,” said Lino Massafra, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “This is just one of the numerous solutions NAI provides that drastically lowers program risk and reduces operating costs in processing and avionics communications applications.”

In addition, the 75PPC1-FT3-AR1 supports the following:

  • Up to 8 GB DDR3L SDRAM
  • Up to 32 GB SATA II NAND Flash
  • 2 x Gig-E Ports
  • Wind River Linux or VxWorks
  • -40° C to +85° C
  • Conduction- and air-cooled versions
  • Continuous Background Built-in-Test (BIT)

Pricing for the 75PPC1-FT3-AR1 begins at $12,784 in quantities of 100+.
