NAI Combines ARINC 429/575 and Discrete I/O with New CM2 Combination Function Module

BOHEMIA, NY – September 2025 -- North Atlantic Industries (NAI), a leader in rugged embedded computing solutions, announces the release of the CM2 Combination Function Module. This newest addition to NAI’s Configurable Open Systems Architecture (COSA) function module portfolio integrates ARINC 429/575 communications and Discrete I/O into a single, high-density solution, enabling efficient avionics data interfacing and discrete signal control in SWaP-constrained systems.

The CM2 Function Module provides 8 ARINC 429/575 channels and 12 Discrete I/O channels. The ARINC channels each include 255-message FIFO buffer for transmit and receive, ensuring efficient handling of high-throughput avionics data. The Discrete I/O supports voltage and contact sensing, pulse detection, and frequency measurements with flexible output configurations (High-Side, Low-Side, or Push-Pull), all designed to simplify signal control in complex systems.

Built on NAI’s COSA architecture, the CM2 Function Module combines multiple I/O capabilities in a compact module, reducing system complexity and enhancing reliability. The module’s configurable channels and integrated data-handling functions enable seamless communication and control across air, land, and sea platforms.

“The CM2 Function Module showcases NAI’s commitment to delivering rugged, configurable solutions for mission-critical applications,” said Lino Massafra, VP of Sales and Marketing at North Atlantic Industries. “By combining ARINC 429/575 communication and discrete I/O in a single, compact module, we’re helping customers reduce system size, weight, and power while increasing operational efficiency.”

The CM2 Function Module is available now as part of NAI’s COTS solutions portfolio. For more information visit www.naii.com or contact NAI’s sales team at 631-567-1100.
