MIL-STD-1553B - Single/Dual/Quad Channel, Dual Redundant

The FTA-FTF function modules are the improved assisted mode versions of the legacy FT1-FT6 functions and is the choice for all new programs.

NAI’s MIL-STD-1553B communication based smart function modules are for use in NAI’s rugged COTS Multifunction Embedded I/O Boards, Single Board Computers (SBCs), and Configurable Systems offered in OpenVPX, cPCI, VME, and PCI/PCIe configurations.

Modules FT1 - FT6 feature up to four dual-redundant MIL-STD-1553B, Notice 2-compliant interface channels.

Each channel can be configured to act as a Bus Controller (BC), Remote Terminal (RT), or Bus Monitor (BM).

Modules FT1 - FT6

MIL-STD-1553 is a military standard published by the United States Department of Defense that defines the mechanical, electrical, and functional characteristics of a serial data bus. It was originally designed for use with military avionics, but has also become commonly used in spacecraft On-Board-Data-Handling (OBDH) subsystems, both military and civil. It features a dual, redundant, balanced-line, physical layer; a (differential) network interface; time division multiplexing; half-duplex command/response protocol; and up to 31 remote terminals (devices).

Modules FT1, FT2, and FT3 provide programmable 1, 2 or 4-channel, dual-redundant, transformer-coupled interfaces, respectively.

Modules FT4, FT5, and FT6 provide programmable 1, 2 or 4-channel dual-redundant, direct-coupled interfaces, respectively.
