Isolated ±15V DC/DC Converter


The V1 module provides a single channel, isolated bipolar ±15 V power source output. The V2 module provides two identical fully isolated bipolar ±15 VDC DC/DC converters. Each DC/DC converter can source and sinks up to 450 mA. Each converter can be used independently and features current output and voltage output monitoring, and a programmable current limit. Both converters are isolated and may be tied in series for applications requiring higher output voltages. For clarity, the two converters are referenced as channel 1 & 2.

The V1 incorporates a single programmable isolated converter output. The V2 module incorporates two independently programmable galvanically isolated DC/DC converters. The power outputs from both converters (V2) are available through the front panel I/O connectors. Each converter has bipolar ±15 VDC output and a separate ISO ground return. A single converter output may be used to supply +15 VDC, and -15 VDC, with each output supplying a different load current. A converter outputs may be used together for applications requiring ±15 VDC or 30 VDC. Two converters may be tied in series to provide output voltages up to 60 VDC. Power into the DC/DC converter is supplied through the ±12 V power connections on the platform board. Please refer the platform board documentation for I/O connections.

The module design utilizes state of the art galvanic isolation that is superior to alternatives such as optocoupler devices. The galvanic isolation eliminates typical optocoupler design concerns such as uncertain current transfer ratios, nonlinear transfer functions and temperature/lifetime degradation effects.
